Electoral justice is a fundamental principle in democratic systems, ensuring fair participation of citizens in political decision-making processes. This article examines the barriers to achieving electoral justice in the constituency delimitation of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly and aims to propose practical solutions for improvement. The research methodology is based on a descriptive-analytical approach, organized into four main areas: structural barriers, political obstacles, legal and regulatory deficiencies, and the absence of scientific and standard criteria.
The findings reveal that factors such as the uneven population distribution across Iran, the influence of partisan interests and pressure groups, and the lack of independence among supervisory bodies are significant challenges in electoral delimitation. Moreover, weaknesses in drafting transparent laws and scientific standards have hindered the proper realization of electoral justice.
In the solutions section, the article emphasizes the necessity of revising the constituency delimitation system and establishing criteria such as population equality, alignment with administrative boundaries, and public participation. It also advocates for the creation of independent and impartial institutions to oversee boundary delimitation and the introduction of regular review periods for adjustments.
The article concludes that structural and legal reforms, coupled with independent and transparent oversight, can pave the way for achieving electoral justice and strengthening public trust in the nation’s electoral system.
