Political accountability is regarded as one of the vital pillars for achieving justice, efficiency, and public satisfaction within a system of governance. The aim of this study is to explain the model of accountability in the sphere of Islamic politics, based on the political thought of Ayatollah Khamenei. The central research question is: “What model of accountability exists in the political thought of Ayatollah Khamenei?” The research method is qualitative, grounded in data theory with the Strauss–Corbin approach. Through the processes of open, axial, and selective coding, six conceptual categories were extracted. The findings revealed that political accountability in politico-theological thought is organized within a multi-path framework, in which political leaders and officials are obliged to be accountable at five levels: divine, conscientious, guardianship-based, professional, and social. All these levels are ultimately subsumed under responsibility before God. The conclusion of the study is that this model represents a comprehensive, qualitative, and value-oriented framework which, compared to modern theories of governance, offers a politico-theological, human-building, ethics-centered approach that is applicable within the structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
